Key facts
  • Contract manufacturing means outsourcing the production and/or packaging of your supplements to a third-party manufacturer, under your brand.
  • It answers three needs: launching a product, a supplier running out of capacity, or adding a second production source.
  • A tech transfer relies on a product spec, raw material specifications and a validation batch.
  • We have available capacity in gummies, capsules, tablets, effervescents, powders and functional drinks.
  • ISO 22000 and HACCP certified, FDA-registered site in Saumur, France, with storage and shipping from Allonnes.

What is supplement contract manufacturing?

Contract manufacturing (also called toll manufacturing or outsourced production) means a specialized manufacturer produces your dietary supplements for you. You keep ownership of your brand, your formula and your customer relationships; the contract manufacturer brings its production lines, its people, its quality system and its raw material purchasing.

There are two common models. With partial outsourcing, the manufacturer handles a single step: powder blending, encapsulation, tableting or packaging. With full service (turnkey), it handles everything from sourcing raw materials to a finished, labeled product ready to ship.

When should you outsource?

For the brands and labs we work with, the need almost always comes from one of these situations:

  • Your supplier is at full capacity: production slots slip, launches get pushed back, your bestsellers go out of stock.
  • You are launching a new SKU in a format your usual manufacturer does not run (gummies, effervescents, stick packs, drinks).
  • You want a second source to de-risk your supply chain and stop depending on a single plant.
  • You produce in-house but need a partner for the dosage forms you do not make yourself.
  • You are reshoring to Europe a product made overseas, for a "Made in France" label and tighter quality control.

How a tech transfer works

Moving an existing product is not a new development project: the goal is to reproduce exactly what your customers already buy. A tech transfer follows clear steps:

  • Product file: quantitative formula, raw material specifications, finished product spec sheet, label artwork.
  • Feasibility review: we check the formula on our equipment, raw material sources and regulatory compliance.
  • Sourcing: we buy raw materials from qualified suppliers, or use materials you supply.
  • Validation batch: a first run compared with your reference product (appearance, taste, potency, stability).
  • Routine production: following batches are scheduled based on your sales forecast.

The more complete your file, the smoother the transfer. If information is missing, for example because your previous manufacturer owned the formula, our custom formulation team can rebuild an equivalent recipe.

What to require from a contract manufacturer

A contract manufacturer produces under your name, so its standards are your brand's standards. Always check:

  • Certifications: ISO 22000 and HACCP at a minimum; FDA registration if you sell in the United States.
  • Traceability: every raw material lot and finished batch traced, with certificates of analysis.
  • Release testing: testing before each batch is released.
  • Confidentiality: your formula stays yours, protected by a non-disclosure agreement.
  • Regulatory review: ingredients, doses and claims checked against EU and French rules.

Our site is ISO 22000 certified, applies HACCP and is registered with the FDA. Our certifications are available for your supplier qualification file.

Beyond production: storage and fulfillment

Contract manufacturing does not stop at the end of the line. From our Allonnes site near Saumur, we provide storage and logistics for your finished goods, order picking and, on request, direct shipping to your end customers, plus returns handling. You can outsource the whole chain, from raw material to parcel.

Why outsource rather than build a line?

Building your own production line means buying equipment, qualifying a site, hiring operators and running a food safety management system, long before the first unit is sold. Outsourcing turns those fixed costs into a per-batch cost and lets you add formats as your range grows. It also gives you access to a manufacturer's purchasing power on raw materials and to a quality team that already handles audits, release testing and regulatory checks every day.

Many brands end up with a hybrid model: they keep one manufacturer for their core range and add a second one for new formats or to absorb peaks. That is exactly where an available-capacity partner makes the difference.

Preparing your contract manufacturing request

To give you a fast and accurate answer, a few details are enough to start. The more precise they are, the more reliable our feasibility review will be:

  • Format and pack size: gummies, capsules, tablets, powder; units per jar, pouch or box.
  • Formula: ingredient list and dose per serving, or at least the reference product to match.
  • Volumes: first batch quantity and annual forecast, even rough.
  • Context: new product, transfer from another manufacturer, one-off or recurring need.
  • Target markets: France, the EU or export outside the EU, which affect labeling and claims.

With these details, we check compatibility with our lines, raw material availability and the regulatory points to address, then come back to you with a tailored manufacturing proposal.

Launching products, not just brands

Our clients are not only startups. We also work with established brands adding a SKU to their line, labs expanding their catalog and distributors who want their own product. In every case the question is the same: produce reliably and to spec. If your current supplier can no longer keep up, contact us: we review your project and tell you what we can produce.
